Description
A reclaimed gas cylinder transformed into a one-off industrial coffee table.
This second design uses three large square cut-outs around the cylinder, creating a more angular appearance while exposing the contrasting bare-metal interior. The cut edges are finished with protective metal edge trim, and the exterior is coated in hard-wearing black Hammerite.
The solid timber top has been heavily flame-scorched to emphasise the grain and produce its dark, charred appearance, before being treated with Danish oil.
I’ve retained the original upper structure of the gas cylinder beneath the tabletop, including some of its original markings and details. Rather than hiding what the material once was, they’re deliberately part of the finished piece.
Approximate dimensions: 52 cm high × 35 cm wide.
This is a genuine one-off handmade piece, so marks, welds, variations and signs of the cylinder’s previous life form part of its character.
Your imagination is your only limitation.
