Description
Industrial Receiver Tank Coffee Table
Not all furniture starts life as furniture.
This one began life as a 150-litre industrial air receiver tank before being transformed into a striking handcrafted coffee table that blends engineering, craftsmanship and creativity.
Designed and built in Hampshire, this one-off piece combines reclaimed industrial materials with practical everyday function, creating a centrepiece that immediately attracts attention and starts conversations.
Whether placed in a living room, office, games room or workshop-inspired space, this coffee table offers something mass-produced furniture simply cannot: genuine character and a story worth telling.
A Piece Of Industrial History
Rather than sending quality materials to scrap, this project gave an industrial air receiver a completely new purpose.
The original tank has been carefully prepared, modified and transformed into a practical coffee table while retaining the rugged appearance and character that makes industrial furniture so appealing.
The result is a functional piece of furniture that celebrates engineering rather than hiding it.

The Story Behind The Build
The Revival Shed was created around the idea that unwanted materials can become something extraordinary.
Many of my favourite projects began with a simple question:
“What else could this become?”
This coffee table is a perfect example of that philosophy. What was once industrial equipment has been transformed into a practical and distinctive piece of furniture that nobody else will own.
In this case, It was part of a nitogen generator in a Cambridge pharmaceutical laboratory which fed a bank of Agilent LC chromatography appliances which needed hyper pure nitogen as a carrier gas / bulk gas for their sample analysis. When the nitrogen generator was being upgraded in my project, the old oil free compressor was no longer needed due to its great service. So in my car it went and the rest is history.
