Description
A vintage jerry can with genuine family history
This original 1968 metal jerry can once belonged to my grandfather and has now been given a completely new purpose as a distinctive industrial candle holder.
Rather than leaving it unused or disposing of it, I opened the front to create a large display area for candles while preserving the original handle, filler neck and unmistakable jerry-can shape.
The result is a substantial one-off piece with genuine history, industrial character and a warm glow when lit.
Finished for contrast and character
The exterior has been painted using black Hammerite-style hammered paint, giving it a durable textured finish that complements the original utilitarian design.
The inside has been painted silver to reflect the candlelight and make the interior glow more effectively.
Protective red trim has been fitted around the cut opening to soften the exposed edge and add a strong visual contrast against the black exterior.
Suitable for a wide range of candles
The generous internal space allows it to accommodate many candle sizes, including combinations of smaller candles or larger pillar candles, provided they are placed securely and have adequate clearance.
Suitable LED candles may also be used where an open flame is not appropriate.

A genuine one-off creation
This is not a reproduction or mass-produced decorative product.
It has been created from a genuine vintage jerry can with its own history, age-related marks, surface variation and signs of previous use. These characteristics form part of the finished piece and contribute to its individual appearance.
The photographs show the actual item offered for sale.
Candle safety
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Place all candles securely on a stable, heat-resistant base and ensure there is adequate clearance around and above every flame.
Keep the candle holder away from children, pets, draughts and combustible materials. The metal body and surrounding surfaces may become hot during use.
The Revival Shed recommends suitable LED candles where an open flame would not be appropriate.
Delivery or collection
