This is the first bed I made for myself during lockdown, and I gave myself a simple remit for it’s design.
- An epic place to chill and snuggle
- It has to be made from whatever I had to hand
- Just be TOTALLY different
So made from old fence posts, scaffolding boards, a used sleeper and a huge bit of driftwood I found on the beach plus a cool design I found online for the headboard engraving, I set myself to work
Now make no mistake, this bed is frankly HUGE and referred to by friends as “The giants bed”, as it’s almost as tall as me

bed frame is for a standard double mattress (1.35m x 1.9m) and with that on, you sleep circa 80cm off the floor so expect to have to jump a little bit to get on an off !
As this project was frankly quite a huge undertaking (and that I was more than a little irked with the wreck of an old bed frame that I was given and had given up the ghost) so I took a little storybook of pictures during the process.
